App of the Week: Fotopedia Paris

Accidental Locavore Paris appOK, so this week the Accidental Locavore is digressing from food, well sort of. I’m living vicariously in Paris with this beautiful app. It’s 1000 photos of Paris and on my iPad it’s just beautiful. Besides having lots of nice pictures (some of which are food), you can click on the info button and get (cursory) information on each and every photo. You always have the option to create a slide show, or to stop and “resume the journey”.

The photos can also be sorted by categories, shopping, a day trip to Versailles, even notable Metro stations. Along with the caption, each photo has the arrondisement where it was taken. I was surprised at how many places were new to me, even after having lived and traveled there. When you decide to get out of your armchair and book a ticket, you can create a walking tour of Paris, based on your favorite shots. If you’re armchair bound, there is of course, the option to share on Twitter, Facebook etc.

This could possibly be my new favorite app, at least in terms of just lovely to look at.

Rating: 5 out of 5. New favorite
